Monk is a west coast Canadian artist with her primary studio on spectacular
Rathtrevor Beach at Parksville on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
Her subject matter comes primarily from the endless ocean views, idyllic
beach scenes, beautiful Gulf Island coastlines, spectacular old growth
forests, serene gardens and ancient totem poles.
Monk's energy, creativity, joy and reverence for all of creation shine through her exquisite use of colour, detail and depth. The three-dimensional sculptural quality of her works adds drama and a sense that you could step right into her painting, walk through the old growth forest, explore the garden paths, feel the texture of the old totems or get wet in the water!
MONK frequently paints in public outside her home studio, on Rathtrevor Beach, at the Craig Street Tuesday evening market in Parksville and in Major & Monk Art Gallery and Studio in downtown Parksville. People often seek MONK out because she encourages young and old to paint with her and add their brush strokes and signatures to her works of art.
Monk's original oil, acrylic, watercolour, sculptural paintings and hand-embellished
giclée prints are seen in galleries, homes and corporate spaces throughout
Western Canada and world-wide. Her art can be purchased online through
the Art Sales page.
