Thousands added their spirit strokes to "Nodar's Spirit", a collaborative painting of the Cathedral Grove trees dedicated to Nodar Kumaritashvili, the fallen Olympic luger from Georgia.

"I believe all of Canada stopped and cried and this is one way everyday Canadians can communicate their grief and support to the family. The crowds coming to add their stroke of condolence for the family of Nodar have really connected with this painting."

Since the Olympics "Nodar's Spirit" traveled throughout Western Canada, including The Filberg Festival in Comox, Craig Street Market in Parksville and many schools and other locations for about a year.

COMPLETION AND DELIVERY

In the spring of 2011 MONK delivered the painting to Nodar's community in Georgia, where all were welcomed to add their paint strokes and it was gifted to Nodar's family and community in his honour.
